ALARA offers five categories of Organisational membership: Corporate, Professional, SME (small to medium enterprise), Sole Trader (10 or less employees), and Affiliate.

  • Corporate membership is open to any business or organisation that employs more than 200 staff and has a demonstrated commitment to supporting the development and application of action learning, action research, process management and participatory action research (AR/PAR/AL) practice.
  • Professional membership is open to any allied professional organisation that supports ALARA's objectives without necessarily themselves having comparable objectives e.g. a professional association in a specific discipline or a university or university department.
  • An SME membership is open to any small to medium sized enterprise that employs between 10 and 200 staff and has a demonstrated commitment to supporting the development and application of AR/PAR/AL practice.
  • A Sole Trader membership is for small businesses with 10 or less employees, and which has a demonstrated commitment to supporting the development and application of AR/PAR/AL practice.
  • Affiliate membership is open to peer professional AL and AR networks and associations. Such organisations share substantially similar goals and objectives in AR/PAR/AL, and actively promote AR and AL through their missions and activities.
The benefits of Organisational membership include:
  • Access to the pdf version of the ALAR Journal and the ALARA Monograph for the nominated representative of the Organisation;
  • Reduced price on other ALARA publications, such as Conference and World Congress Proceedings for the nominated representative;
  • Access to ALAR Journal back issues via the website;
  • Fortnightly e-news updates;
  • Special member discounts to ALARA events, conferences and World Congresses consistent with individual membership discounts;
  • Notifications by email from ALARA about events or activities or resources;

  • A web link from the ALARA website <http://www.ALARA.net.au> to the organisation's website if available.  The Organisational member writes their own descriptive paragraph to go with the link on the ALARA website;
  • Discounted individual membership of ALARA: Individuals within Organisational members can join as Individual members of ALARA by paying the Reduced Fee (50% of the normal fee). All Individual members who take up this option are entitled to the same benefits as full fee paying individual members, with the exceptions of (a) the voting rights fall to the nominated individual from the Organisational member, and (b) they cannot nominate to be on the Management Committee.
  • If 15 or more individuals from a Corporate Organisation or 10 or more individuals from any of the other types of Organisations join ALARA at the time of Organisational membership registration, paying the 50% Reduced Fee, the Organisational membership is free of charge.
Affiliate Organisational members may join ALARA through reciprocal membership or other agreed membership fee arrangement. In these cases, the agreement provides reciprocal benefits for each organisation, such as circulation of each other's newsletters and announcements. Affiliate membership with reciprocal arrangements provides for a membership category that is clearly distinct from other Organisational membership.
