ALARA's Australian Conference 2008 The Whole Person: Sustainable futures in living, learning and working , Canberra, September 11-12, is being hosted by the Centre for Education Excellence, Canberra Institute of Technology. The central focus on sustainability concerns education (e.g. developing sustainable curricula), community development (e.g. designing and developing sustainable communities), and environmental impacts (e.g. sustainable futures and technologies)

The conference is highly interactive, using "catalyst papers" rather than formal papers and presentations. A sample of a catalyst paper is available below. A catalyst is a 1 page statement which the conference organisers receive to develop the conference approach. At the event, as catalyst author you will lead a workshop about your catalyst subject. We hope that this will happen for virtual participants too. The workshop develops the content so you can, if you wish, generate a formal paper, product, strategy or some other outcome as a consequence. Papers can be submitted to ALARj for editorial review and consideration for our October journal edition.

You may also wish to participate as a "provocateur" - a role that travels across the conference stimulating interactions and creating connections from event to event. Tick this box on your registration form and the conference team will be in touch to tell you more. PLEASE DOWNLOAD THE ATTACHED BROCHURE FOR CONFERENCE DETAILS AND REGISTRATION FORM

You will also find a generic marketing letter to send out to your networks and invite people to come to the conference. Its content is approved by the conference mgt team.
