It's time for ALARA members, friends, partners and lovers to yarn and reflect on the journey, achievements and highlights of 2012 and celebrate the festive season. Please join us at the Ship Inn, for dinner from 6pm. The Ship Inn is corner Stanley and Sidon Streets, South Bank.

We can book an inside table which seats 30 people. Please advise asap if you would like to come along so we can determine if it would be realistic to book the entire room. This would give us flexiblity to move around and catch up and would not be in a noisy space.

Kind regards

Joan and Pamela

ALARA Conversation with Cathryn Lloyd, Brisbane, Qld, 22 November

22 Nov 2012 - 5:30pm
22 Nov 2012 - 8:00pm
Etc/GMT+11

For this ALARA presentation Cathryn will share the ‘social architecture’ project ‘City of Thought’ she designed and facilitated in collaboration with artist/academic Henrik Schrat (Berlin) and academic Daved Barry (Copenhagen). The project was two-fold. As a response to the call for papers and presentations for the 6th Art of Management and Organization conference it was designed as a conference long project intended to serve two purposes. Firstly, as a community building process within a conference environment. Secondly, as a way of researching the relation between thought and its representation as a three dimensional artefact. Cathryn will reflect on the process and share what happened, what worked, what didn’t and what could be next.

Facilitation Workshop - 20-21 October 2012, Bob Dick, Brisbane, Australia

20 Oct 2012 - 9:00am
21 Oct 2012 - 5:00pm
Etc/GMT+11

This 20-21 October I'm facilitating my annual workshop on action learning. I've been using action learning to initiate cultural change, strengthen organisational resilience, and develop leadership skills, as well as to improve community and educational settings. I expect to draw on this experience. And in the usual participative style of my workshops you'll be able to influence the direction we take.

My intention is to facilitate a workshop with a mix of experience, processes and concepts. I'll provide you with opportunities to experience and practise setting up and taking part in an action learning team. If you wish you'll be able to design your own action learning program for your organisation, community or elsewhere. There will be supporting handouts.

Access Inner Wisdom: Action Learning Reflective processes deepened by being present to animals & nature, 17-18/10, Deborah Lange

17 Oct 2012 - 12:30am
18 Oct 2012 - 4:00pm
Etc/GMT+11

ACTION LEARNING REFLECTIVE PROCESSES ENHANCED BY BEING PRESENT TO ANIMALS AND NATURE.

The industrial revolution and our technological era have distanced us from our animal relations and from our own sensate wisdom our first and primary form of information gathering that we have learnt to ignore. Our mental acumen can provide us with only partial answers about how we make sense of the world. The body responds to the energetic changes in our environment, however, we have distanced us from our animal beingness.

In a nano second between our body experience and our mental interpretation we can not believe what our body is telling us and rely only on our mental acuity. I believe we have only been gathering information in one domain and to gather information from our body sensations in addition to our mental capacities has the potential to lead us to greater congruence and connection within ourselves, each other and our environment.
